Saturday, 1st of August was a good day, the weather was nice. Dinner was top notch and Arsenal came from behind to beat Chelsea and win their 14th FA Cup trophy. The most successful club in FA Cup history. Apparently, the club have been holders of the trophy for 10% of its history. Or something along those lines, don’t quote me on that.

It’s all honky-dory now, but things didn’t start off that way. In typical Arsenal-fashion, the boys conceded an early goal courtesy of a Giroud assist. Something that made it hurt all the more. I don’t know if I can forgive the guy for the stunt he pulled in Baku; scratch that, I REFUSE to forgive him for his antics. But after that drinks break, things started to go our way more.

Goes to show that Arteta is a real tactician and he knows how to get the best out of his team. I’ll be honest, initially I was sceptical of him being appointed as the manager. Just because he was assistant to Pep Guardiola didn’t warrant any special treatment in my eyes. But boy-oh-boy, it turns out that it was Pep that was playing second-fiddle in that relationship over on the blue side of Manchester.

Arteta has been brilliant ever since he’s come in and he’s done well with the cards he has been dealt. Xhaka’s full circle is the epitome of his influence and genius, that guy was on the brink of being dropped by the club. He was public enemy number 1 during Mr. Good Ebening’s last days at the club.

Furthermore, he just seems to invoke something more in the players. Play was lethargic and aimless during Emery’s time. Playing out from the back was a real fear, and do not even get me started on the post interviews.

Areta on the other hand, is the opposite of Emery in so many ways. And all of them are good ways. When Mikael speaks during an interview, he brings a vibe of confidence and reassurance for me. I mean, i guess it helps that he can speak English fluently. And that he isn’t using Peaky Blinders as a Rosetta Stone. But still, he emits the aura of a man that knows what he’s talking about and is confident in what he says.

This brings me to the Aubameyang story, it is clear to see that the pair have a genuine relationship. And Pierre looks happy at the club, I hope it doesn’t make me naive to think that all these factors mean that he is staying at the club.

Arteta himself said that he is confident of Aubameyang putting pen to paper, so once again it is reassuring to hear that coming from him. However, until that pen does indeed make contact with said paper. There’s always a chance, no matter how little of things not going the way all Arsenal fans want.

So I just want to say… Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang
