Top 5 Binge-Worthy Netflix Series’

Streaming services have become a big part of our everyday lives. The streaming powerhouses in the UK: Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+, ITV Hub and BBC iPlayer have become frequent additions into our daily routines. Increased usage of streaming services has resulted in people getting through a considerable amount of content, in a short space of time, due to current events and restrictions.

Because of this, we now spend more time “looking” for what to watch, than we spend watching anything. The streaming algorithms don’t seem to understand what you want, (similar to a failing love interest or a lazy partner, even though you’ve been together for years) and there are only so many times you can re-watch your favourites.

Well! Look no further. I am here today to share my top 5 binge-worthy series’ on Netflix that will keep you occupied for the months ahead. (weeks if you binge the way I do)

  1. i-Zombie (5 seasons)

This series follows the life of a promising doctor Liv-Moore, who unfortunately ends up being in the wrong place, at the wrong time. She and others are attacked by a zombie on board a boat party. This boat party is inadvertently the beginning of a zombie outbreak. But not in the way you would imagine.

Also starring American Gangster’s Malcolm Goodwin and Prison Break’s Robert Knepper (T-Bag)

2. Shooter (3 seasons)
A series adaptation of the 2007 film (starring Mark Wahlberg) of a decorated veteran, Bob Lee Swagger. Based on the life (with obvious exaggerations for dramatic effect) of a real Vietnam sniper, this action-packed series is ideal for anyone interested in gunfights, hand-hand combat and conspiracies.

Also starring Cynthia Addai-Robinson and Love & Basketball’s Omar Epps.

3. Final Space (2 Seasons)
I love my animation, and if you’re the same, you’ll enjoy this. This series follows space prisoner Gary Goodspeed and his green alien friend, Mooncake. The best way to explain this would be a funnier and much more light-hearted version of the Disney+ original hit, “The Mandalorian”

Disclaimer: watch out for a character named Tribore, you’re welcome.

Also starring David Tennant, Tika Sumpter and Stranger Things’ Caleb Mclaughlin.

4. The Last Kingdom (4 seasons)
Game of Thrones fans, Merlin fans, or straight-up anything medieval. This series is worth checking out, based on the lives of Uthred of Bebbanburg and King Alfred “The Great” (again with exaggerations for dramatic effect).

A great series to watch and it also gives you a glimpse into the origin of the alliance of countries that we refer to today as Great Britain

5. Star Trek: Discovery (3 seasons)
I was sceptical when Netflix suggested this to me, initially, I discarded it as an option for something to watch. Because I have never been a Star Trek (or Star Wars) fan, however, boredom and free time prompted me to give it a try.

To my surprise, it has ended up being one of the most enjoyable series’ I have watched on Netflix. Furthermore, having a black and female lead (Sonequa Martin-Green as Michael Burnham) was unusual but also intriguing, I wanted to see how it would be. The fact that Sonequa is stunning helped, of course, but she is also a fantastic actress. The series is also starring Michelle Yeoah.

And there we have it! My top 5 binge-worthy series’ on Netflix, hopefully there is at least one that some of you Netflix addicts haven’t come across.

Happy streaming!

  1. Good list. I will try at least one of these. Meanwhile may I suggest; “The OA”, “Dark”, and the quirky true crime docudrama “Evil Genius”.
